Description: Rare mizusashi of hand-blown glass, diamond-shaped with bevelled edges. Colourless glass with dark violet fused-in and fused-on colour crumbs, decorated with cracked gold and platinum silver foil fused on in horizontal strips. With flat black lacquer lid. Modern and traditional at the same time in appearance. Made in 1990. With original signed box. *Fujita Kyōhei is a renowned glass artisan most famous for his ornate glass boxes (kazaribako). He was inspired by Japanese lacquerware and Chinese Liuli (crystalline glass). He created glass artwork, often hand blown molten glass into metal mounds, decorated with sheets of platinum or gold leaf. The artist combines traditional forms of tea ceremony utensils with modern patterns.
