*Born in 1955 in Yamanakawa, Ishikawa prefecture. He graduated from Komatsu Technical High school in 1974 and started studying under maki-e lacquer artisan Omote Masanori 表 正則(b. 1938) for five years, after which he started working independently as a lacquer craftsman.
