Description: Gold lacquer natsume decorated with chrysanthemum flowers and paulownia tree in raised gold. Backdrop of gold nashiji (sprinkled gold). Black interior and bottom. With original signed box, inscription reads: ancient chrysanthemum, paulownia, maki-e, large natsume (jidai kiku kiri maki-e ō-natsume) *Lacquer artist born in Ishikawa prefecture, Wajima city. Won several awards for his work: first prize at the Wajima Art Exhibition, mayor’s award at the Wajima sample exhibition and twice won the special selection price at Ishikawa prefecture Lacquer art exhibition (maki-e division).
Signed:on box Bihō with artist’s seal reading Bihō.
