An abundance of flowers and plants can be seen: from the famous cherry blossoms (sakura) signalling spring, to Japanese pampas grass (susuki) – one of the seven Autumn grasses.
*Nihonga artist from Kyoto, who exhibited and won prizes many times at both the Bunten and Teiten exhibitions. He specialized in kachō-ga, and became especially skilled in the detailed and elegant portrayal of small birds and sparrows. First studied under Kikuchi Hōbun (菊池芳文1862-1918), afterwards moved to Tokyo and became a pupil of Araki Jippo (荒木十畝1872-1944). Member of the Nihonga association where he was very actively involved. He was also at the first meeting of the re-organized Teiten exhibition. From 1927 onwards, his work was accepted to the Teiten nearly every year.
