Description: Famous places in the Eastern capital: Evening cool at Ryōgoku (Tōto meisho Ryōgoku yūsuzumi). Published by Wakasaya Yoichi, c. 1847-1850. One of the most famous triptychs by Hiroshige, showing three beauties strolling along the Sumida river. On the left the Ryōgoku bridge, on the right the Yanagi bridge across the Kanda River. On the far bank the lit windows of restaurants and tea-houses. The print is full of movement, which is accentuated by the waving willow branches and the wind which is creeping under the kimono of the beauties.
