Description: Triptych Wednesday, Waterfall at Meguro (Meguro no taki), from the series Seven Days a Week (Shichiyō no uchi). Published by Hasegawa Sonokichi in 1896. The triptych shows a regular Wednesday in the late Meiji period at Rōsen temple (also known as Meguro Fudōson), which had been a popular pilgrimage site in the Edo period. The prints contain a relaxed atmosphere. On the left a lady is smoking a pipe, and in the middle a mother is taking her daughter for a stroll. In the background people can be seen bathing underneath the dragon shaped gargoyles, of which the temple likely derives its name (瀧泉寺). A nice detail is the cat-shaped colofon that contains the information of the publisher.
