Based on a folktale. A young man finds a wounded heron and nurses it. Afterwards he sets it free. He falls in love with a beautiful girl and they marry. They make a living by selling the beautiful cloth the woman weaves, but she always warns her husband to -under no circumstances- watch her while she is working. Curiosity wins and the man discovers that his wife is a white heron. She changes back to her human form, but now that her true identity is revealed she must leave. She transforms into a heron and takes flight. | Signed: | with artist's seal 'Tsunetomi' | Size: | Dai Oban, 45.2 x 29.6 cm | Condition: | Fine impression, colour and condition | Price: | Euro 750 SOLD | Reference: | "The New Wave", pl. 138. | | | |
