Description: No.4 Demon in the Form of an Old Woman Fleeing with a Severed Arm (Rōba kiwan o mochisaru zu老婆鬼腕を持去る図 ) from the series New forms of thirty-six ghosts (Shingata sanjūroku kaisen新形三十六怪撰). First edition with three-coloured cartouche. Published by Sasaki Toyokichi in 1889. Famous tale of Watanabe no Tsuna cutting of the demon Ibaraki at the Rashomon Gate, Kyoto in 976. Through a list the demon later manages to retrieve the arm, disguised as an old woman. Feeling with her severed limb, she flies off revealing herself to be Ibaraki. Also known for the adapted no play ‘Ibaraki’.
