Pictured is a fierce Nitta Yoshida (1301-1338) fighting his last battle, standing next to his fallen horse, protecting himself from an arrow attack and striking down two arrows mid-flight, wielding swords in both hands. He wears a double horned helmet with a dragon on top. The cartouche tells the story of his last battle at the Black Fortress (Kuromaru) in August 1338, known as the Battle of Fujishima.
