Description: Triptych of the Kabuki play Naminori fune otono yoki soga (波乗船音宝曽我), scene at Mount To (Toyama no ba 波乗船音宝曽我/富山の場). The play is based on Nansō Satomi Hakkenden (The Diary of Eight Dogs), an epic 19th century serial novel by Kyokutei Bakin. Each hero in the story represents one of the eight samurai virtues and has a name including the ideograph for 'dog'. Left: Fusehime, Princess Fuse 伏姫 (played by actor Iwai Kumesaburō岩井粂三郎) , Yatsufusa 八房(middle: Nakamura Shikan 中村芝翫), right Inuzuka Keno犬坂毛乃 (played by Kumesaburō). Published by Iseya Kanekichi in 1863. Performed at the Morita-za theatre in Edo.
Signed:on each sheet ‘drawn by the 78-year old Toyokuni’ (Nanajūhassai Toyokuni hitsu七十八歳豊国筆, with Toshidama seal.

Condition:Very good impression, colour and condition. Unbacked, full size, with extensive gauffrage on Fusehime's white/blue kimono.
